DUI checkpoints on Christmas, New Year eves
The Department of Public Safety’s Traffic Section will be conducting DUI checkpoints on Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, and on New Year’s Eve, Dec. 31.
On Dec. 24, 2008, there will be three sobriety checkpoints.
The first setup will be on Beach Road Chalan Kanoa in front of Carmen Safeway (northbound outer lane), from 7:30pm to 8:45pm.
The second setup will be on Beach Road Susupe in front of the Minatchom Atdao pavilion (southbound outer lane). This will start at 10:30pm and will end at 11:45pm.
The third setup will be on 2W Highway Gualo Rai in front of Han’s Corporation (northbound outer lane), beginning at 3am on Dec.25 and ending at 4:15am.
DPS will also conduct three sobriety checkpoints on Dec. 31.
The first setup will be on Beach Road Susupe in front of the Multi-Purpose Center (northbound outer lane), from 7:30pm to 8:45pm.
The second setup will be on Beach Road Chalan Laulau in front of the intersection of B&R Auto Shop (southbound outer lane). This will begin at 10:30pm and end at 11:45pm.
The third setup will be on 2W Highway Chalan Laulau in front of PTI (southbound outer lane), from 3am to 4:15am of Jan. 1, 2009.
Each checkpoints conducted will last at least 75 minutes (1 hour 15 minutes) at each location. This activity is part of the department’s 3D program to deter and detect impaired driving and ensure that all vehicle occupants are protected.
In addition, traffic officers will be conducting highway criminal interdictions, saturation patrols, aggressive driver interdictions and laser activities.
