Seman wins SWGA December tourney
Bennett Seman bested 15 other female golfers to win the December edition of the CNMI Women’s Golf Association Monthly Tournament at the Laolao Bay Golf Resort Saturday.
Seman carded a net 69 for a two-stroke victory over Aya Matsumoto. The 30-handicapper Seman shot a 48 and 51 on the front and back nines for a gross 99.
Matsumoto has a 15 handicap and settled for second after firing a net 71. She tallied a 45 on the front nine and improved her game on the back with a 41.
Lorraine Babauta, a 10-handicapper, completed the Top 3 with her consistent performance at the Kagman course shooting a 41 on both nines for a gross 81.
Noriko Togawa recorded the lowest gross of the day with her 5-over par 77, but her net 74 was only good for fourth place. The 3-handicapper Togawa started slow with a 40 on the front nine, but finished her game with an improved 1-over par 37 on the back.
Rounding off the Top 10 were Shiori Onoue (net 75), Yuko Togawa (76), Sachiko Adachi (77), Lourdes Kim (78), Chin Lin Wang (79), and Margaret Tenorio (80).
Other participants in last week’s tournament were Sherlyn Jones (82), Matilde Hocog (82), Kimiko Abe (83), Xiao Wang (84), Ukita Terue (84), and Seo Kyung Ran (85).
CWGA was established last year to promote, encourage, and introduce women to the sport of golf in the CNMI.
Its members abide by a set of values that will further enrich a golfer’s performance, attitude, and conduct-adopted form the USA Junior Golf Association.
