Rare weekend King and Queen of the Lanes set

Capital Bowling Center will host a rare weekend King and Queen of the Lanes Bowling Tournament for its December edition, according to Saipan Bowling Association treasurer Ross Zapanta.
“For this month only, the tournament will be on a Saturday and a Sunday, Dec. 27 and 28, because most of the leagues are cancelled due to the holidays. The Prince and Princess of the Lanes will also be on a Saturday,” he said.
Saturday’s competition will start at 6pm, while the Budweiser roll-off on Sunday begins at 4pm. Registration starts 30 minutes prior to game time. Awarding ceremonies immediately follow the end of competition on Sunday.
The competition is exclusive for SBA members with participants limited to the first 60 entries for each day.
Members have the option to bowl on the Saturday or Sunday, or on both days, provided that the $15 entry fee is paid. Bowlers who did not bowl on Saturday will be given priority for the Sunday shift. Only the higher score will count for the tournament. All participants have to pay the $15 SBA annual membership fee.
The champion is guaranteed $100 in prize money but it could go up to as much $150 depending on the number of participants. Women participants will only have separate prizes if there are at least 10 entries.
Youth bowlers (12 to 19 years old, not bowling in any leagues or averaging less than 170 in any league), meanwhile, will duke it out in the Bing Energy Drink Prince and Princess of the Lanes Tenpin Bowling Tournament in Day 1 of the monthly competition. Entry fee is $10 for the Bing Energy Drink Prince and Princess of the Lanes.
After being sponsor-less for the whole of 2007, the Saipan Bowling Association’s monthly King and Queen of the Lanes Tenpin Bowling Tournament as well as its season-ending bowlfest has secured the help of MARPAC for this year’s competition.
The Budweiser King and Queen of the Lanes Tournament aims to crown 12 monthly champions through the course of the year.
