Bud Cup, Open 8-Ball winners feted
Top individual and team performers in the Saipan Billiards Association’s Budweiser Open 8-Ball League winter-spring ’08 and in the Bud Cup were honored in a banquet yesterday at Pacific Islands Club’s Charley’s Cabaret.
The PTI Voyagers, who won the Agingan division of the Open 8-Ball, received their championship trophy from league secretary Charlotte Tenepere.
The Voyagers are composed of Rolly Villanueva, R.J. Mascarinas, Jojo Talibong, Jean Cadag, Roman Rodriguez, Amor Zapata, Ryan Odicta, and Luis Fajardo.
Taking home the runner-up trophy were the Krystal Docomo Hustlers, who have Jerry Soriano, Rowel Mariano, Joey Lucido, Erwin Gomez, John Ricafort, James Lee, and Robert Sanciangco as members.
Round 2’s Islanders Rent A Car received the third place trophy. The team is composed of Boyet Sequioco, Ronnie Ringor, Joey Cruz, Erick Caisip, Don Antonio, Rey Pinangay, and Jomer Enriquez.
In the Obyan division, Primo’s Home Boys went home with the championship trophy. Receiving individual championship plums were Home Boys members Nolan Cultura, Mario Diola, Franz De Luna, George Lizardo, Bambu Lacandazo, and Juancho Mendoza.
The Krystal Perfect Spotters, whose members include Serge Tibudan, Jonny Dugos, Mario Jumalon, Primo Ferrere, and Erick Piol, settled for the runnerup trophy.
Completing the Top 3 was USSP Fotten Palau, which is composed of John Mongami, Taylor Watanabe, Ron Chisato, Rick Rengiil, Anni Tesiro, and Mei Rengiil.
The Husters won their second trophy after topping the Agingan division of the Bud Cup, while Primo’s Home Boys went 2-for-2 in 2008, as they also prevailed in the Bud Cup (Obyan).
Primo’s Cultura was adjudged MVP in the Obyan division, while Talibong claimed the MVP honors in the Agingan category.
Other individual awardees were Zapata and Rick Rengiil (8 on the break) and Caisip, Ed Manucduc and, Cultura (run the rack).
The Sportsmanship Award went to Coral Reef Shark Attack (Agingan) and Coral Reef Barracuda (Obyan).
Shark Attack is composed of Bernard Kileleman, Patrick Taitano, Vince Mareham, Ben Norita, Patrick Maanao, Bill Limes, and Jerry Ayuyu.
Members of Barracuda are Nizer Masayos, Steve Limes, John Peter, Leo and Oscar Sablan, Esang Olkeriil, and Thomas Tebuteb.
