Gold’s Gym Saipan announced today that it has just launched the CNMI’s 2009 Body Success Challenge and there will be over $10,000 in cash and prizes to be awarded to participants from the community that can lose the most weight as a percentage of their original starting weight and/or make the most amazing body transformation over a three-month period.

Registration is $100 per person and will be open to anyone, age 16 and above, who lives in the CNMI. Based upon the success of the first Body Success Challenge that took place during the Summer of 2008, Gold’s Gym has now increased the number of competition categories and more than doubled the amount of cash and prize awards with the help of a growing list co-sponsors including Shell Marianas, Coca-Cola, Subway, Foremost, Michelob Ultra, and Fiji water.

The 2008 Body Success Challenge had 44 participants who entered and 29 who finished, resulting in a total combined weight loss of 695 lbs. The winners included men’s champion, Jack Kiyoshi, who lost 58 lbs and 23 percent of his overall body weight; women’s champion, Fe Mamuyac, who lost 38 lbs. and 25 percent of her overall body weight, and the Most Amazing Body Transformation Champion, Jeff Boyer, who lost 20 lbs., 11 percent of his overall body weight, and 39 percent of his overall body fat.

According to Josephine Togawa, co-owner of Gold’s Gym Saipan, the goal of the 2009 Body Success Challenge is to have a combined weight loss of at least 1,000 lbs by all the competitors who complete the three-month challenge. Instead of only having one men’s weight loss category and one women’s weight loss category, the 2009 Body Success Challenge will offer the following four weight loss competition categories: 1) women ages 16 to 29 years old; 2) men ages 16 to 29 years old; 3) women ages 30 and above; and 4) men ages 30 and above; plus an overall “Most Amazing Body Transformation” category that will be open to all men and women who are either trying to lose weight and body fat or gain size and muscle.
