Beware of innovative burglars, thieves

Kindly publish this letter of forewarning to our community, especially the As Matuis Homestead, in hopes of preventing homes and families as the next victims of these innovative thieves who scan your house and burglarize your home without force or breaking entry or waiting until dark. Here’s how they operate: They operate in groups of two or more and pretend to have a car breakdown so they can come to your home, knock on your door, ask to use your telephone, and then ask to drink water or use your restroom or need something else for whatever excuse they can come up with as part of their scam.

Two or more of these thieves make their way inside your home and pretend to wait for their friends while they use your phone, restroom or drink of water but they are actually scanning your home and, while one of them is busy distracting the home owner, the other noses around your home behind your back scanning your rooms for small items that are easy to hide and carry. These thieves got away with our hair straightener, blow dryer, a portable DVD player and a digital camera. These items are small enough for them to snatch and hide in their body without being noticed.

So, beware of these strangers and thieves when they come knocking at your door. Do not let them inside your home, no exception. These thieves can hit your home twice in an hour without even noticing something is gone until it’s too late. We reported this incident to the police and hopefully they will find them, hold them to their criminal acts and return our items that belong to our family.
