Beach Boys bounce back vs. POI
The Beach Boys won against POI, 16-10, last Monday night in the 2008-2009 Budweiser Inter-Government /Business Softball League at the Capital Hill Ballfield to bounce back from a loss in their previous game.
First baseman B.J. Sablan, catcher Stanly Aldan, and centerfielder J.R. Suel led the Beach Boys’ offensive thrust as the team remained in seventh position with a 7-3 win-loss record.
The victory also made up their 5-13 defeat to defending champion and league-leading DCCA last week as the Beach Boys completely dominated POI, out-hitting them (22-13), as well as registering clear advantages in doubles (3-0), triples (1-0), homerun (1-0), and RBIs (16-10).
Sablan went 3-fo-3, including three RBIs, a triple, and reached home plate twice.
Suel hit three of four, including two doubles and an RBI and had three runs.
Aldan was also 3-for-3, had two runs, a double and three RBIs.
The Beach Boys easily translated the game into their favor after POI went to 3-2 lead after the first full innings.
As POI failed to sustain that early good start, Oliver Schermibal scored a solo homerun to tie the game at three-all while Sablan made it 4-3 for the Beach Boys on a single by Harlan Delos Reyes.
Jun Kaipat, Highness Asanuma, Tony Lizama, Mabel Ngirngemelas, and Marvin Manahane all scored for POI in the top of third, but the Beach Boys retaliated with five runs from Stanley Aldan, Steve Igisomar, Schermibal, Sablan, and Delos Reyes in the bottom of the same inning.
Max Kadisang, Ota Nobuyuli, Ota Nobuyuki, Suel, Mel Aldan, and Stanley Aldan then added five more runs for the Beach Boys to widen the gap, 14-8.
Kyle Kaipat and Ngirngemelas added two more runs for POI in the top of sixth, while Beach Boys reliever Kotaro Tsujimo scored his lone run on a double by Suel, who later earned his third run of the night on a single by Igisomar.
In the top of seventh, winning pitcher Igisomar made sure the first three batters did not reach first base, including the game’s lone strikeout on third batter Highness Asanuma, which dealt POI its fifth setback in 10 assignments.
Legislature 15, PSS 8In the other men’s division game, Legislature overcame a slow start to beat Public School System, 15-8, and stayed in fifth place in the team standings.

Outfileder Ben Camacho came up with three runs and had two RBIs on one hit in three at bat.
Dennis Cabrera had three runs on two of four, including two doubles and an RBI.
