Saipan’s Super Bowl picks

Monday will be an unofficial holiday for schools and government offices not only in the mainland U.S. but the CNMI as well.

The reason: Super Bowl XLII, baby!

Will the Pittsburgh Steelers make history and become the winingest team in Super Bowl history (it’s currently tied with the San Francisco 49ers and Dallas Cowboys with five apiece) or will the Arizona Cardinals’ Cinderella story continue?

Despite being thousands of miles away from the heart of the action in Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida, local pigskin prognosticators still want their voices heard.

I will be cheering for the Arizona Cardinals. I like cheering for the underdogs. The Cardinals have never won a championship and have suffered through many years of being the doormat of the NFC. I am also pulling for Kurt Warner the QB that was with the Rams before and won a Super Bowl. He was written off by several teams and now is leading his new team to the Super Bowl. It’s a great comeback story. My prediction is: Cardinals 24, Steelers 17.

I don’t religiously follow the football series but I am rooting for the Cardinals this year because they are the underdogs and I like that they made it this far. The Steelers have the best defense so we’ll just have to wait and see.
