Rota casino regs now in effect

The rules and regulations for the casino industry on the island of Rota, published in the Commonwealth Registrar on Dec. 22, 2008, are now in effect, according to a statement issued yesterday by the Rota Casino Gaming Commission.
The rules and regulations provide adequate and systematic procedure on investigation and enforcement, which are essential to maintain the integrity of the casino industry on the island, according to the commission.
The Commissioners’ goal “was to ensure that the rules and regulations are attractive to potential investors and conducive to the operation of casino.”
Consistent with the Rota Casino Act of 2007, it further provides specific guidance to monitor and safeguard the casino industry and to protect the interest of the public.
The commission is now in the process of creating a Web site that would provide the public, potential investors, and tourists essential information about the casino industry and other investments on Rota. The commission expects the Web site to be completed in “the very near future.”
