Freedom Air stuns CPA, Jets beat P&S
Freedom Air nailed its biggest win so far of the season after stunning Commonwealth Ports Authority, 23-5, Thursday night in the 2008-2009 Budweiser Inter-Government/Business Slow -pitch Softball League at the Capital Hill Ballfield.
After all its players batted in the top of the second inning, Freedom Air erected a 10-1 lead on the way to its ninth victory against only one defeat.
The win thus created a major shake up in the team standings as Freedom Air (9-1) grabbed second place overall, while relegating CPA to third place with its 9-2 record.
Defending champion DCCA is still on top of the heap with a 12-0 win-loss slate.
First baseman Roy Celis, pitcher Roque Camacho, and shortstop Reno Celis added insult to injury by firing a homerun each.
Freedom Air made five more runs in the fourth against CPA’s four.
Eight Freedom Air players then reached home plate again at the top of the fifth, while CPA never scored after that and the referees called the game over.
Roy Celis went 3-for-3, had three runs, one homerun, one double, three RBIs, and a walk. Roque Camacho was 2-for-4 and had four runs, one homerun, and two RBIs. Reno Celis hit twice in four at bat, had three runs, a homerun and four RBIs.
Al Lizama also finished with four RBIs after two hits in three at bat and had two runs and one base on ball.
Byron Kaipat was 2-for-2 for CPA, including two runs, one homerun, and two RBIs.
The other scorers for CPA were Mark Toves, Jack Guerrero, and Jack Diaz with one each.
[B]Joeten 18, P&S 9[/B]In the second game, upset-conscious Joeten Motor Jets rallied from an amazing 0-9 deficit to overturn P&S, 18-9.
The win improved the Jets’ record to 8-3, as it jumped from sixth to fifth position.
P&S absorbed its fifth loss in 10 games.
The Jets went into a scoring spree at the top of the fourth inning, scoring 12 before adding three more in the sixth, and two in the seventh.
Infielder J.J. Laniyo hit the game’s lone homerun in the sixth inning. He finished the game with four RBIs and two runs on 1-for-3 at bat.
Ernest Rangamar was 1-for-4 with three runs and an RBI, while Hector Efraim was 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and three RBIs.

Docomo 12, No Zone 6[/B]
In the opening game, Docomo defeated No Zone, 12-6, to score the night’s first upset victory.
The win improved Docomo’s record to 7-4 and it remained in eighth place, while No Zone joined the Jets in fifth with similar 8-3 marks.
