This is just to inform all current and potential CNMI voters living in the sunny state of California. According to the California State Notary Public Handbook, “No fee may be charged to notarize signatures on vote by mail ballot identification envelopes or other voting materials.”

This simply means that notaries of California cannot charge you a fee for their notarial services on any documents pertaining to absentee voting. This service is a duty by the notary and should be free of charge. If a notary ever demands for payment, you can take note of their name and commission number and send it to the office of the Secretary of State of California, Debra Bowen. Then that specific notary can have their commission refused, revoked, suspended, and even incur a fine for their misdemeanor.
