Registration opens for 28th Flame Tree arts fest
Registration for the 28th Annual Flame Tree Arts Festival will begin tomorrow, Feb. 11, 2009, according to a statement issued yesterday by the Commonwealth Council for Arts and Culture.
The annual arts festival is scheduled to be held this year from April 23 to 26, 2009, at the Civic Center in Saipan. The Flame Tree Arts Festival features diverse cultures from the region and abroad, ranging from traditional and contemporary visual, to performing and culinary arts.
Registration will be open on Wednesday at the Commonwealth Council for Arts and Culture on Capital Hill, located next to the Post Office building. Registration costs are $100 for traditional/visual artists, $100 for information booths, $300 for non-profit organization, and $600 for food/business vendors. Registrants must submit copies of their business license, food handlers’ certificate, and non-profit charter, if applicable. Artists must be registered with the Commonwealth Council for Arts and Culture.
“In addition to celebrating the diverse cultures represented on the islands, we encourage vendors to register early, as we have only 20 food vendor slot and 60 other slot available,” said the CCAC statement.
