Wiseman gets 7th year as federal court designated judge
For the seventh consecutive year, the U.S. Courts for the Ninth Circuit has appointed Superior Court associate judge David A. Wiseman as a designated judge for the U.S. District Court for the NMI.
Ninth Circuit Chief Judge Alex Kozinski designated Wiseman to serve as a judge in the federal court beginning Jan. 1, 2009, and ending Dec. 31, 2009.
Wiseman said yesterday he is pleased with his seventh consecutive appointment as a designated judge.
He said he appreciates the confidence placed in him by Judge Kozinski and U.S. District Court for the NMI chief judge Alex R. Munson.
“I welcome the opportunity to continue serving the people of the CNMI in this role of a designated U.S. District Court judge as well as in my position as an associate judge of the CNMI Superior Court,” Wiseman said.
“I will endeavor to continue to serve in both capacities with honor and distinction,” he added.
Wiseman’s first six-year term on the bench as judge expired in March 2007. But in November 2005, voters allowed him to continue to serve as a judge until March 2013.
The 2005 election made Wiseman the first non-indigenous judge to capture a CNMI retention poll.
