The CNMI joined Spain as awardees during Kinki Nippon Tourist’s worldwide meeting and recognition held Friday in Japan.

The two destinations were cited as the two top KNT Japan group package planners for succeeding in providing professional care to guest traveling abroad.

KNT’s CNMI tour agency, Pacific Development Inc., was recognized for its effort in bringing together the community, the private sector, and government agencies (Marianas Visitors Authority and the municipality of Rota) in making the Rota charter flights a success.

PDI assistant general managers Gordon I. Marciano and Masanori Takahashi accepted the award from KNT president Yoshikawa Katsuhisa.

Marciano and Takahashi said they never thought PDI would be one of the recipients of such a recognition. The two said PDI has always been about ensuring the most successful and memorable tours for its KNT guest.

Marciano also extended PDI’s appreciation to everyone who contributed to the success of the Rota charter flights.

“The award wouldn’t have been possible if it weren’t for all that were involved. We dedicate this award to KNT group planners, the Cape Air team on Rota for handling the ground services, MVA, and most especially to the community of Rota. Biba Luta!” he said.

Every year, KNT schedules a regular worldwide meeting with its companies from abroad, from New York to Spain to the Pacific. More than 400 took part in last week’s event.

During the meeting, plans and ideas are shared and it concludes with a ceremony where awards are presented to group planners that provide services beyond the call of duty.

The Rota charter flight are expected to bring in some 8,000 tourists to Rota in about a year. KNT has chartered Continental Airlines to bring in the Rota flights. Continental Airlines has been using its 155-seater Boeing 737 aircraft to service the island. (Saipan Tribune)
