Bank sues Glad over $.2M debt
Bank of Saipan Inc. has sued businessman Anthony A. Glad and his business for allegedly refusing to pay his debt, now amounting to $204,565.
The bank filed a foreclosure lawsuit against Anthony Glad, Joyce C. Glad, and Glady’s Saipan Inc.
The bank, through counsel S. Joshua Berger, asked the Superior Court to order the defendants to pay within three months of the court’s decision damages plus accruing interest, court costs, and attorney’s fees.
Berger requested the court to order a public auction of the defendants’ mortgaged property if no payment is made within the three-month period.
Berger stated in the complaint that Anthony Glad is an Indian citizen who is frequently off-island.
He said Joyce Glad is a U.S. citizen currently off-island and may still be residing in California.
The complaint did not indicate the relationship between Anthony and Joyce Glad.
Berger said the original loan amounts were $150,000 and $29,550.
“However, as of Dec. 3, 2008, the date of the notice of default, defendants owe plaintiff $204,565,” the lawyer said.
He said more than 30 days have elapsed since the notice of default was served upon the defendants and yet they have failed to cure the default.
Last month, Golden Bird Corp., a company that rents out commercial space, sued the owner of the Island Medical Center for allegedly failing to pay rent for its leased space in Susupe and for leaving the premises in bad condition.
Golden Bird Corp. alleged that Micronesian Health Corp. owed the company $76,658.
Anthony Glad served as vice president of Micronesian Health Corp.
