The Commonwealth Utilities Corp. has scheduled a four-hour power outage today, Feb. 28, to conduct systems maintenance on entire grids covered by Feeders 4 and 7.

The outage from 6am to 10am will affect portions of Lower Base Sadog Tasi, Capital Hill, Kagman and portions of Papago (Botanical Garden), Lower Base industrial area, north of Tanapag, Achugao, San Roque, As Matuis, and Marpi.

CUC Power Division personnel will replace two rotten primary power poles in the San Roque area, replace one air brake system in Tanapag by the Mobil gas station, and clear primary lines of vegetation throughout Feeder 4 and 7.

Because of the danger involved to the linemen working on or near high voltage power lines, the electrical power supply to the feeder 4/7 circuit will require to be temporarily de-energized from 6-10am to ensure safety for the crews.

“This systems maintenance will coincide with the ongoing Pacific Training Program funded by the Department of the Interior. PLT training instructor Chris Middleton will observe the projects,” said CUC in a statement issued yesterday.

“Although many areas of the existing electrical system is old, by performing this required maintenance to the electrical grid it will have an immediate impact in improving the distribution of power safely to the respective feeders. (CUC)
