To Wence T. Aquino: I do not want to discuss federalization other then to tell you that I am on the CNMI side. I am a Republican and as such I believe that local government should administer local affairs. I am with you: Democrats are the ones who want to place everything under federal control. This is what the Obama Administration is doing right now.
I want you to know that the Islamic terrorist threat is not the fault of America. About 30 years ago they started a long list of attacks on America. When Jimmy Carter was president they hijacked a jet passenger plane, killed a young man, threw his body out the front door of the plane onto the tarmac and then flew the plane to Iran. They held the crew and passengers hostage for 454 days. President Carter tried to rescue them but the mission failed because the helicopters crashed in a dust storm.
From 30 years ago, no President has taken any action to stop terrorism until after 9/11. Then President Bush had no alternative.
In addition to my U.S. Marine Corps time I am retired from the Army National Guard. I was under orders for the Gulf War and my son and my nephew went to the Iraq War. My son came home with an injury. My nephew was OK but he went back four times to train Iraqi police and military. This effort and that of the young men from the CNMI is not to bomb them into submission; it is to liberate them so that they are free from Saddam and the terrorists. We did that for Japan and Germany and for Saipan, and for many other countries around the world. That’s the American way!
I wrote the last letter to make this issue clear. I don’t want people mistakenly accusing America. I wish you and the good people of the CNMI the very best.
