The American Red Cross NMI Chapter held its second annual Super CPR Saturday at the Fiesta Resort and Spa-Hibiscus Hall over the weekend. The event drew in a crowd of close to 100 participants.

The four-hour course trained participants not only in CPR but also how to handle a breathing emergency, a conscious choking victim, a cardiac emergency, and unconscious choking victims.

Students, teachers, private businesses and family members were among the many participants at the event.

At the end of the class, participants were given an American Red Cross CPR certification card valid for one year.

Red Cross executive director John Hirsh stated that the NMI community has been very supportive toward the NMI Chapter.

“Events such as this are a way of showing our gratitude toward the community. The people of the CNMI can feel safer knowing that there are an additional 100 people in the community trained in lifesaving skills,” he said. (ARC)
