Saipan Laulau donates $5K to NMC
The Saipan LauLau Development Inc., which owns and operates LaoLao Bay Golf and Resort, a 36-hole golf course designed by Greg Norman, recently presented a $5,000 donation to the Northern Marianas College Foundation.
“We are extremely supportive of the Northern Marianas College’s mission to provide higher education opportunities for CNMI students,” said Yun Kim, president and chief financial officer of Saipan Laolao Bay Golf and Resort.
The donation was made as part of the qualifying certificate program, which calls for Saipan LauLau Development Inc. to make public benefit contributions to community-based public programs and activities. It was also made in support of the upcoming Annual NMC Foundation Open Golf Tournament.
“We look forward to continuing our partnership with the college in many other ways, including the provision of internship opportunities and job placement possibilities,” Kim added.
“Saipan Laolao Bay Golf and Resort’s contribution will go a long way in helping to improve the quality of programs and services that are offered at NMC,” said NMC Foundation president Ben Babauta.
The NMC Foundation is a non-profit organization whose goal is to raise funds to support the Northern Marianas College, the CNMI’s lone postsecondary educational institution. The organization is composed of individuals who are dedicated and committed to ensuring that CNMI students receive the utmost support in pursuing their educational goals.
“The college is deeply appreciative of Saipan Laolao’s donation,” said NMC president Dr. Carmen Fernandez.
Saipan Laolao will play host to the upcoming 7th Annual NMC Foundation Open golf tournament, scheduled for Saturday, June 13, 2009. All proceeds from the tournament will be used to support NMC’s educational programs and services. (NMC)
