Roll three, go free

I was disgusted by the articles slathering all over Villagomez by Fitial and Reyes. Any self-respecting politician would have distanced himself from a known corrupt felon. In this case I have to wonder, are they afraid to condemn him for a reason? Is the embarrassment Villagomez family suffered really enough punishment? Are they so naive to think that this is an isolated incident? Of course not. And who are they stealing from? Not the government, but the poor people who go without electric, drive on potholed roads, and work and live in dilapidated buildings for $4.05 an hour. The money stolen can be seen in the deficiencies of the island. Decaying public parks, dirty beaches and third world infrastructure. Now if the FBI pursued this corruption with the same voracity they use against Chinese girls at the bars they could roll up a whole carpet of corruption. They round up a herd of Chinese girls and threaten them with long jail sentences and deportation unless they squeal on each other. Works pretty well. If the Feds sentence Villagomez to 20 years, basically a life sentence, unless he rolls over on three other corrupt officials he’ll squeal. Then maybe let him off with five years in the pen and the rest of the thieves can go along with him. Saipan needs some deterrent from corruption and there are enough young intelligent people with integrity to fill their shoes.
