The team of Heinz Hofschneider and Arnold Palacios will not take anything for granted and will continue working until all votes are counted in the primary election.

Palacios told reporters this on Saturday, emphasizing the important role of the primary in this year’s gubernatorial race.

The Heinz-Palacios tandem will face Juan N. Babauta and Galvin Deleon Guerrero in the June 27 primary election set by the local Republican Party.

“We are working very hard for this primary and we’re not underestimating anyone and taking anything for granted. We continue to talk and seek the people’s support for us,” Palacios said.

Even prior to announcing their bids, Palacios said they have been visiting villages and talking with people on several issues. He described people as very receptive to their team, whether on Saipan, Rota, and Tinian.

“A lot of people or most of the people we talked are receptive… even those who already committed themselves to other candidates. We are truly grateful to them because they provided us the time and opportunity to talk and approach them,” he said.

He declined to speak when asked about his team’s edge over the opposing team, merely saying that he and Hofschneider “continue to work.”

He disclosed that besides the weekend visits to villages, they also spared a couple of hours meeting with people after each day’s official work.

Last Saturday morning, he talked with Precinct 2 voters before attending the Northern Marianas College graduation.

“We will not stop working until the votes are counted after the June 27th,” he said.

The Heinz-Palacios team is hoping for a “fairly good turnout” during the primary.
