The PTSA officers of Oleai Elementary School would like to inform the parents and guardians of OES students that there will be a PTSA meeting today, June 7, at 6pm in the school cafeteria. Everyone is encouraged to attend. (PR)
[B]Red Cross membership meeting tomorrow[/B]The NMI Chapter of the American Red Cross will have its general membership meeting tomorrow, June 8, at 5pm. All Red Cross volunteers, donors, or those interested in learning more about the Red Cross are welcome. The meeting will be held at the Chapter office on Airport Road. Elections will be held for board members and an overview of activities will be discussed. Refreshments will be served. (ARC)
The 3S Saipan Security Service will be hosting a security guard orientation for their current staff at the American Memorial Park, Visitor Center Theatre on June 18. It will run three hours from 8am to 11am. Anyone from the community that is interested in becoming a security guard is welcome to attend the orientation. Subjects that will be covered are customer service, report writing, proper communication and other items. 3S is a sister organization of Saipan City Taxi Association. (PR)
[B]Alcohol license renewal now being accepted[/B]The Alcoholic Beverage and Tobacco Control Division is reminding all licensed business establishments that applications for Alcoholic Beverage Control license renewals are now being accepted.
Application forms may be obtained from the Alcoholic Beverage and Tobacco Control Division at the Department of Commerce, Donni Hill Complex, Capitol Hill Road, Pohnpei Street, anytime between 8:30am and 4:30pm, Monday to Friday except austerity Fridays, weekends, and legal holidays.
All licensed businesses in Rota and Tinian may pick up application forms from the Commerce resident department head on Rota and Tinian. Application forms may also be downloaded at www.commerce.gov.mp.
The deadline for filing of renewal applications, including payment of fees, is on June 30, 2011. For more information, call the ABTC Division at 664-3065. (PR)
[B]Air Force training on FDM[/B] [B]SANTA RITA, Guam[/B]—The Air Force will conduct training on the island of Farallon de Medinilla on June 10, from 8am to 2:30pm.The public—especially fisherman, commercial pilots and marine tour operators—are advised to stay clear from the area during the times and dates indicated.
The general location of the training on the island of Farallon de Medinilla training area will be on a 10-nautical mile radius on all quadrants. (PR)
[B]Final MHS Class of 1991 reunion meeting on June 10[/B]The Marianas High School Class of 1991 will be having its final meeting for its 20th reunion. Class members will be meeting on June 10, 2011, at the 13 Fishermen’s Pavilion (2nd Pavilion) on Beach Road at 6pm to plan for the reunion. Final collection of the $22 banquet fee will be done at the meeting. It will also be the final day for payment for T-shirt orders (small-XL: $9 or XXL $9.50). (PR)
[B]Registration Opens for Teachers Institute[/B]The NMI Council for the Humanities announces the opening of registration for the 2011 Teachers Institute that will be held in August.
The Institute, which will run from Aug. 1 to 20, 2011, is open to public and private K-12 teachers on Saipan, Tinian, and Rota. Successful completion of the Institute will allow PSS teachers to fulfill the local history requirement of their teaching credentials.
The registration form and an Institute schedule may be obtained from the Humanities Council office in Gualo Rai, from the Human Resources Office at PSS on Capitol Hill, or downloaded from the Council’s website at www.nmihumanities.org.
There is a non-refundable registration fee of $100. Registration forms and fees must be submitted no later than 4pm on July 15. Contact Council program officer Merced Ada at 235-4785 for more information. (PR)
[B]Public hearings on Saipan casino bill[/B]The Saipan and Northern Islands Legislative Delegation’s committees on Judiciary and Government Operation and Ways and Means will be conducting public hearings for House Local Bills 17-44, or the Saipan and Northern Islands Casino Control Act of 2011 at the following locations:
