The SDA Dental Clinic will be hosting a free Dental Clinic Day on Sunday June 12, 2011, from 8am to 1pm. The clinic will be offering free dental care for people who do not have any type of insurance. If you or your child has Medicaid, we will be happy to make an appointment but will not be able to provide dental care for you on that day. [B][I](SDA)[/I]
Horse-riding lessons on Saturday[/B]
Do you have a child or grandchild 1 year to 7 years old? Would you like to make him or her experience riding a horse? Come this Saturday, June 11, 2011, to the Saipan Chamorro-Carolinian Village Cultural Centers headquarters on Capital Hill, next to the CNMI Board of Parole Office and across from the CNMI Workforce Investment Agency. Classes start at 9am and end around noon. Other activities this Saturday include banana print and mwar making.
Classes are offered for free to Chamorros and Carolinians by the Inetnon Amot yan Kutturan Natibu/Mwiischil Safey me Kkoor Aramasal Faluw, in partnership with the Indigenous Affairs Office, and made possible in part by a grant from the Administration for Native Americans. Veteran sets book signing at AMP[/B]
Retired U.S. Marine Corps Maj. Rick Spooner will be signing his book, The Spirit of Semper Fideles: Reflections From the Bottom of an Old Canteen Cup, on July 2, 2011, from 2pm to 4pm at the American Memorial Park’s Visitor Center.
Spooner is returning to Saipan for the first time since 1944. As a Marine, Spooner served on land, sea and in the air. He enlisted in the Marine Corps as a private during World War II. He also served briefly with the 1st, 4th and 5th Marine Divisions.
He was a staff NCO during the Korean War and he taught infantry tactics at Camp Pendleton prior to going to Korea with the air wing.
In 1966 he served in Vietnam in the Provost Marshal Division of MACV and as an advisor to the Vietnamese National Police. (PR)
Special guests lined up for Marianas Agupa
This Saturday, June 11, 2011, Marianas Agupa will feature Florine Hofschneider, who will talk about PIBBA from 10am to 10:10am. Also, John S. Del Rosario will be featured between 10:15am to 10:30am to talk about Article 12 and the importance of lifting the restriction on land alienation. The show is from 9am to 11am on Magic 100.3 FM.
The Chamorro Talk Show Program is hosted by Glenn H. Manglona. Featured reports are as follows: World report and program review by former mayor Joseph S. Inos followed by special report “In the Spotlight” with Rose Ada-Hocog, a report from Rota with correspondent and commentator Thomas D. Mendiola, and a report from Tinian by former senator David M. Final MHS Class of 1991 reunion meeting today[/B]
The Marianas High School Class of 1991 will be having its final meeting for its 20th reunion today, at the 13 Fishermen’s Pavilion (2nd Pavilion) on Beach Road at 6pm. Final collection of the $22 banquet fee will be done at the meeting. It will also be the final day for payment for T-shirt orders (small-XL: $9 or XXL $9.50). [B][I](PR)[/I]
Security orientation[/B]
The 3S Saipan Security Service will be hosting a security guard orientation for their current staff at the American Memorial Park, Visitor Center Theatre on June 18. It will run three hours from 8am to 11am. Anyone from the community that is interested in becoming a security guard is welcome to attend the orientation. Subjects that will be covered are customer service, report writing, proper communication and other items. 3S is a sister organization of Saipan City Taxi Association. [B][I](PR)[/I][/B]
