Tom Tebuteb clinched the Refaluwasch Golf Association June Ace after beating Joe Saures in the scorecard tiebreak in last Saturday’s tournament at the Kingfisher Golf Links.

Tebuteb shot a 46 and 47 on the front and back nines, respectively, and deducting his 20 handicap from his gross score of 93, he ended up with the day’s best net of 73. The 10-handicapper Saures also had a net 73, built on a 43 in the first nine holes and 40 in the last nine.

To resolve the tie, RGA went to the players’ scorecards on the front nine and Tebuteb carded a net 36 after half of his handicap (10) was subtracted from his score in the first nine holes (46). Saures came up two shots short, as his 5 handicap and 43 front nine score netted him a 38.

Besides Saures and Tebuteb, 10 other RGA members joined the June Ace tournament. The list includes Manny Mangarero (net 77), Bae Yong Man (77), Adam Hardwicke (86), Ulysis Kapileo (82), Asterio Tawanpiy (75), Dwaine Stephens (84), Carl Hocog (77), Joe Wabol (81), Tony Rogolifoi (81), and Tars Olopai (75).

Hocog won the closest to the pin shot on hole No. 6, while Hardwicke had the same feat on No. 15.

Meanwhile, RGA would like to thank Joe Wabol and his family for hosting a dinner to club members after the tournament.

RGA also wished to condole with the family of its long-time member Ben Taitano, who passed away last week. The club asked its members to include Taitano and his family to their prayers.

In related news, RGA is still open for membership at $25 annually. For more information about RGA tournaments, contact Olopai at 483-5508, Rogolifoi at 288-3515, and Jess Wabol at 288-1129.
