Hike, swim, and snorkel at Eco Camp
Eco Camp at the Mariana Resort and Spa continues this summer for the 12th year. Session 3 starts on Monday, July 11.
“We are having another great summer. This week the kids learned about green sea turtles and then trekked down to Bird Island Beach for a hike and snorkel adventure,” says Marianas Trekking camp director Vincene Asanuma. “We are really proud to have been able to offer Eco Camp in partnership with the Mariana Resort for over a decade now, we are now at the point where kids who used to go to camp are now working as counselors.”
Kids are separated by age and each group has a set of counselors that teach and interact with the group throughout the day. Local kids as well as tourists interact and play together. Most local kids come for two-week sessions while tourists usually join for shorter periods.
“The kids definitely love the water and field trips, we are in the ocean or pool at least once a day, and we also plan indoor activities as well so there is a good balance in the schedule. Kids here on vacation from Guam, Japan, Korea, and elsewhere can join in for a full session or just for a couple of days so it really is a great place for locals and tourists to make some new friends,” said Asanuma.
Resort Camp facilities include three swimming pools, a golf course, soccer fields, snorkel and kayak beach, go kart track, stables, tennis court, a theatre, buffet lunch option, and an arts and crafts room.
