Funeral for Dolores Inos on Monday
The funeral for Lt. Gov. Eloy Inos’s wife—Dolores Agulto Inos—will be on Monday, the administration said yesterday.
Gov. Benigno R. Fitial and press secretary Angel Demapan said the lieutenant governor and the remains of his wife are expected back on Saipan from Manila on Thursday, at 2:45pm.
“Funeral schedule for Monday is unlikely to change,” Demapan told Saipan Tribune last night.
Fitial ordered all U.S. and CNMI flags to fly at half-staff until after the funeral, and announced on Sunday a state of mourning for Mrs. Inos’ passing.
Mrs. Inos, fondly known as “Ling,” passed away on Saturday at the Asian Hospital and Medical Center in the Philippines at around 2am, or 4am Saipan time. She was 63.
Mrs. Inos has been described by those who know her as a “fighter” for having endured a long battle with an illness.
The governor, in an interview yesterday, said they are saddened by Mrs. Inos’ death and asked the people to pray for the lieutenant governor and his family as they deal with the loss.
“I spoke to the lieutenant governor shortly after his wife died. And he told me…he’s accepted, and he is in peace now that his wife is resting. I want all the people to pray for the lieutenant governor, especially for his deceased wife,” he said.
The governor said it will be up to Inos if he wants to take a leave of absence during the mourning period.
House Speaker Eli Cabrera (R-Saipan) said yesterday he’s extending his condolences to the Inos family.
The governor earlier described Mrs. Inos “a loving wife of 40 years, a gentle and caring mother to her six children and a beloved grandmother to her seven grandchildren. She will be missed tremendously.”
Nightly Mass of intention is now being offered at San Vicente Church at 6pm, immediately followed by the recitation of the Holy Rosary.
