Drunken man allegedly assaults wife after accusing her of having affair
A drunken man allegedly accused his wife of having an affair then assaulted her and broke some items at their residence in Kagman III on Tuesday night.
Manuel Chargualaf Santos, 41, was arrested for assault and battery, disturbing the peace, and interfering with a domestic violence report.
At yesterday’s hearing, Superior Court associate judge Kenneth L. Govendo imposed a $2,500 cash bail for the defendant’s temporary release.
Preliminary hearing will be on Aug. 18 at 9am.
Detective Peter A. Aldan stated in his report that on Tuesday night a police officer responded to Kagman after receiving a call about a domestic violence.
Aldan said investigation showed that Santos and his wife came from a family gathering in Kagman and while on their way home, the couple argued after he accused her of having an affair behind his back.
Upon arrival at their house, the wife told Santos she was leaving him. The defendant got angry and allegedly started breaking things such as an electric fan and an entertainment center located inside their living room.
The wife grabbed the house’s phone and tried to dial 911 for police assistance. Santos, however, allegedly grabbed the phone away and broke it.
The wife became scared so she and their children ran to the front of the house. When the wife walked into the bedroom to get her clothes, Santos allegedly punched a hole on the bedroom door.
Santos also allegedly pushed his wife so hard that she almost fell on the floor. As she tried to get clothes, the defendant kept pushing her.
The wife walked out of the house with their children, then she called the police on her cellphone. Police then came and arrested Santos.
