Sobriety checkpoints on Tinian
The Tinian Department of Public Safety’s Traffic Section will be conducting DUI/ sobriety checkpoints on the dates and time listed below:
* Friday, Aug. 19, 7pm–8:15pm, eastbound lane on Broadway Road by the baseball field in San Jose village.
9pm–10:15pm, southbound lane on Broadway Road by the Youth Center in San Jose.
* Thursday, Aug. 25, 6pm–7:15pm, westbound lane next to the Department of Commerce.
* Friday, Aug. 26, 8pm–9:15pm, along Broadway road by Tinian Democrat Headquarters.
10pm–11:15pm, along Broadway road by Natibu Park.
* Saturday, Aug. 27, 8pm–9:15pm, northbound lane along Broadway road by Housing Turnkey.
Each checkpoint will last at least 75 minutes. Checkpoints are subject to termination if it begins to rain.
In addition, traffic officers will be conducting highway criminal inductions and laser (speed detection) enforcement.
This activity is part of the department’s effort to deter, detect and apprehend impaired drivers and to ensure that all vehicle occupants are protected. [B][I](DPS)[/I][/B]
