A 32-year-old man was arrested in Tanapag last week for allegedly stealing a bush cutter from a residence in San Roque.

Nobert Taman Rios was arrested for theft.

Superior Court associate judge David A. Wiseman imposed a $120 cash bail plus $1,080 in unsecured bond for the defendant’s temporary release.

Detective Buddy Igitol stated in his report that last Tuesday the victim told him and another detective at the Department of Public Safety that on Aug. 21, 2011 at 10:45am, a man she identified as Rios arrived at her home, asking to borrow a bush cutter to clean up her house.

The victim agreed and allowed Rios to clean the yard. Later, the defendant asked the victim for a cup of water.

The victim looked at the window and saw Rios placing her bush cutter inside a vehicle driven by an old man.

The vehicle then sped off. The victim immediately ran toward her landlord for assistance.

The victim and her landlord and his wife checked several pawnshops, but they did not find the bushcutter. Later that day, the landlord spotted Rios in Tanapag and confronted him about the bush cutter.

Rios denied stealing the bush cutter and stated that he placed it by the red flowers at the victim’s residence.

Detective Igitol said that on Aug. 22, they interviewed the driver of the vehicle where Rios allegedly place the bush cutter.

Igitol said the driver admitted that Rios attempted to place the bush cutter inside his vehicle, but he advised him not to do it.
