The 670 Rollers and NMC Proa recorded blowout wins, while the Party Rockers survived their foes, as the U15 division of the 20th Annual Saipan Rotary Club Youth Basketball League opened last Saturday at the TSL Sports Complex.

The Rollers ran over Kunoichi, 66-20, in the second game, while NMC Proa routed the MBI Rollers, 46-27, in the closer. Party Rockers fended off the Lil’ Angles, 46-38, in the opening match.

In the second match, 670 Rollers pole-vaulted in front, 20-6, over Kunoichi in the first quarter, as Emerson Feria and Prince Factor tallied six points apiece.

Kunoichi was then stuffed again to just four free throws in the second period, as the Rollers pulled away, 32-10, at the break.

The match would soon be out of reach as the count shifted to 50-17, heading into the final period. Rollers’ Feria, Factor, and Irvin Malonzo each chipped in with six points in the third quarter. The 670 Rollers went on to run up the score in the final canto.

Feria finished with a game-high 16 points, while Kunoichi’s Lalaine Pagarao managed eight in the loss.

NMC Proa got right to work in the last matchup and charged ahead, 13-0, in the opening period. Proa’s Karlo DeLeon carried the torch with eight points.

Proa kept its tempo and pulled away, 25-7, at halftime. Shane DL Guerrero delivered five markers for Proa in the second quarter.

Then Proa eased off the gas in the third period, but still maintained a 32-19 advantage with just eight minutes to go.

A six-point string by Proa’s Ivan Sanarez at the start of the fourth frame set the tone as his teammates ran up the score from that point.

Shane DL Guerrero scrambled for a team-high 10 points, while MBI’s John Sam Darag managed 11 in the loss.

The Party Rockers stunned Lil’ Angels, 16-2, in the opening eight minutes of the curtain raiser and maintained a comfortable 24-13 cushion at midpoint.

Then both teams traded baskets in the third period, as Party Rockers kept pace with Lil’ Angels to remain in front, 35-23, heading into the payoff period.

Party Rockers played it smart at crunch time and held off the Lil’ Angels in the final stand.

Individual scoring statistics were not made available, however, the roster lists show that the seven-member female Party crew bested an opposing roster with a bench over twice its depth.

The season continues this Saturday from 11am to 3pm. Three matches will be played, however the official schedule has not yet been released.
