Businessman, landowner settle court dispute
A businessman and a landowner have agreed to dismiss their complaint and counter-claim in federal court after reaching a settlement.
Businessman Ting Jian Tang, also known as Kevin Tang, and landowner Ignatia C. Aldan, through their respective lawyers, notified the U.S. District Court for the NMI on Tuesday about their agreement to dismiss with prejudice the court action.
Tang and Aldan agreed that they will bear their own attorneys’ fees and court costs.
The two said the court shall retain jurisdiction to enforce their settlement agreement.
The terms of the settlement were not disclosed.
Tang had sued Aldan for allegedly defrauding him by making him remodel a bakery and restaurant in exchange for a lease of property that she actually had already leased to another investor.
Aldan, however, counter-sued Tang for breach of contract. She alleged that the businessman breached their agreement when he did not complete the scope of work in renovating the restaurant.
