Suspected ‘ice’ supplier nabbed in Garapan
U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration agents arrested last week a woman who allegedly sold methamphetamine or “ice” in Garapan.
Yue Xin Tang, a Chinese national, was brought to the U.S. District Court for the NMI on Wednesday for her initial court appearance.
U.S. District Court for the NMI Chief Judge Ramona V. Manglona granted assistant U.S. attorney Garth Backe’s request to unseal the complaint charging Tang with two counts of distribution of a controlled substance.
Manglona set the detention hearing and the arraignment on Feb. 24, 2012 at 9am.
Loren Sutton served as court-appointed counsel for Tang.
According to DEA special agent Jacqueline R. Gordon, they were able to buy $150 and $700 worth of “ice” from Tang using a confidential source on Oct. 27, 2011, and Nov. 9, 2011.
The special agent said the test of DEA Southwest Laboratory confirmed that the items received from Tang were in fact “ice.”
