The “Hope for Tomorrow” Yutu Relief Youth Beach Volleyball Tournament FUNdraiser was able to raise $885 for the American Red Cross-NMI Chapter.
The event was sponsored by the Fiesta Resort & Spa Saipan, Northern Mariana Islands Volleyball Association, Triple J, SeaTouch, Herman’s Bakery, and MyPros.
“We are so thankful to all the sponsors…and the 104 students who participated in the beach volleyball tournament to raise $885 for Saipan residents suffering in the aftermath of Super Typhoon Yutu,” said ARC executive director John Hirsch.
The students also donated three boxes full of items.
For the U14 division, Mt Carmel’s Knights team beat The Bump while The Better Team defeated Dr. Pepper in the U18 division.
The sunny day allowed students to not only play competitive beach volleyball, but also experience SeaTouch to swim and play with stingrays.
Fiesta Resort general manager Wendi Herring said, “Fiesta is a huge supporter of sports and we encourage more events at Fiesta to help our community enjoy some friendly competition, especially for a worthy cause.”
