With the recovery from Typhoon Soudelor progressing quickly and smoothly and most tourism operations restored, Saipan, Tinian, and Rota continue to welcome visitors seeking to enjoy beautiful nature without sacrificing modern conveniences.

The Marianas Visitors Authority has assured tourism partners that visitors to Saipan –which suffered the most damage during the typhoon –are enjoying the islands in comfort.

“Hotels are open, restaurants are open, water sports and land tours are open, and most importantly –the tropical sun is shining today and beaches are open,” said MVA managing director Perry Tenorio. “Social media gave a very realistic picture of the damage after the storm, and we encourage visitors to take a look at the wonderful photos now coming out –many posted by visitors -that show tourism and island life returning to normal. We are definitely open for business.”

The latest photos and updates are posted on the MVA’s Facebook pages: My Marianas (Marianas Visitors Authority).

“The resiliency of the people and a renewed sense of community has been extraordinary over the last three weeks,” said Tenorio. “The average visitor will have the same quality of experience as before the storm, except perhaps for some stores accepting only cash and some restaurants remaining closed. The important things visitors look for are still here, including our beautiful nature, fresh air, clean ocean, and complete relaxation.”

  1. I’m retired and planning on moving to Saipan. I’m sorry to hear about the Typhoon on August 2nd. The damage must have cost many good people their homes and income. I hope FEMA does what they are paid to do and help you through this mess. I surmise there are no rentals at this time but do you have any idea when things will be back to normal? I hope to rent a place until I get settled, then getting a lease near the water. I’m a scuba diver and love nature. Pictures of your island on GOOGLE EARTH look like utopia. Currently I’m in Florida. It’s nice but nothing compared to Saipan. Please feel free to email me at dusty-guy@hotmail.com if you have any suggestions or advise. Thanks for listening…Gerry Mitchell
