The Hoe Lokahi Canoe Club’s June outrigger canoe races take place this Saturday starting at 8am in the waters off Killili Beach. Race events include a men’s, women’s, and mixed 500-meter sprint and 1,000-meter distance series.

Participants from the Saipan Outrigger Canoe Club and the Marianas Paddlers turned out for last month’s event. Mas Fatuul members are also welcome to field a crew.

Hoe Lokahi is putting on these events in preparation for the upcoming Micronesian Cup, scheduled for Oct. 27 and 28; they also hold weekly practice sessions

Hoe Lokahi is a Hawaiian term that translates into “paddle in harmony.”

The group was founded in 2010 and has competed in the anticipated Micronesian Cup event for the past two years.
