Blue Haus, LBT Appraisal win debuts
Blue Haus and LBT Appraisal prevailed in their opening games in the Masters division of the 2015 United Filipino Organization Basketball League.

In the division’s opening match last March 21 at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium, Blue Haus defeated Auto Motion, 90-70, while in last Saturday’s pairing, LBT Appraisal downed Armatech, 80-64. Copy of the scoresheets of the first two matches in the Masters division were only made available last Tuesday night.
Blue Haus played better in the second half to thwart Auto Motion and walk away with the double-digit winning margin.
Ahead by only three after the first half, 42-39, Edsel Mendoza, Junar Guiab, and Tony Diaz joined forces in the third period and lifted Blue Haus to a 66-54 advantage. The trio combined for 20 of Blue Haus’ 25 points in the third canto.
Blue Haus kept its safe distance in the fourth frame with Mendoza and Guiab this time teaming up with big man Edwin Santos in giving their team the advantage in the paint. Santos dropped 6 of his 7 points in the fourth quarter.
Guiab went on to top-score for Blue Haus with his 18 points, while Diaz and Mendoza also finished in twin digits with 17 and 15, respectively.
Resty Joson paced Auto Motion, firing 15, while Miso Usi chipped in 14.
In last weekend’s match, LBT saved the best for last to steal the victory from Armatech.
LBT faced a 46-51 deficit at the end of the third, but fought back in the final canto after outginning Armatech, 34-13.
Randy Mungcal, Jun Alipio, Alex Ocampo, Jun Tabora, and Ed Pangelinan worked together in the fourth quarter as they scored at least 4 points apiece in the big turnaround. Armatech collapsed in the fourth after making only five field goals. Only Martin Moreno and Ferdie Tobias scored more than one basket for Armatech in the final period.
Meanwhile, Armatech triumphed in the U20 division match last Saturday after outclassing Blue Haus, 72-51.
