This month’s Hell of the Marianas Century Cycle race will be featured by Korea’s Men’s Health Magazine, bringing added attention to the Northern Mariana Islands in one of its key source markets.

Men’s Health Magazine has been the best selling men’s magazine in 2013, targeting men age 30 and older and circulating to over 100,000 readers. Most subscribers are interested in swimming, weight training, various other sports, and imported cars. Nine representatives of the monthly magazine were on Saipan from Dec. 5-8, 2013, and were assisted during their visit by Marianas Visitors Authority staff. The magazine will devote six pages to the Saipan visit in an upcoming issue.

“Coverage provided by Men’s Health Magazine will help promote Hell of the Marianas as one of many sports competitions in the Northern Marianas available to our visitors every year,” said MVA marketing manager Bruce Bateman. “It’s a challenging race on a beautiful course, and we would be thrilled to see more Korean competitors next year.”

Japanese pro Kazuhiro Yamamoto was the first male finisher in 2:56:38 in the Open Division. Australian pro Jodie Willet led the women’s Open pack in 3:03:44. (MVA)
