Blanco passes NCLEX on first try

A licensed practical nurse working at the Commonwealth Health Center is a recent addition to the roster of successful NCLEX passers on island.
Claire Blanco got an early Christmas present after receiving the good news, admitting that the exam was difficult.
“I am very happy and felt relieved because it was a difficult test. All my hard work and sacrifices paid off!” she told Saipan Tribune.
NCLEX, or the National Council Licensure Examination, is an examination for the licensing of nurses in the United States. There are two types, the NCLEX-RN and NCLEX-PN. After graduation from a school of nursing, one takes the NCLEX exam to receive his or her nursing license.
Blanco, 30, is originally from the province of Liaoning, Shenyang City in China. She is the wife of Zoning Board chair Diego Blanco.
She completed her LPN courses at Emmanuel College in August 2009 and passed the examination with flying colors just a year after.
Blanco also studied at Loyola University for her RN courses and successfully completed the courses in September last year. She then took the NCLEX RN on Dec. 18, 2013, and successfully passed it on her first try. Blanco also studied English at the Northern Marianas College when she first arrived on Saipan back in 2007.
As a child, Blanco dreamt of becoming a registered nurse. When asked what motivated her to pursue this career, she said: “I love helping people. I am happy whenever I help people.”
Blanco conveyed her deep appreciation to her husband, Diego, for being supportive during her classes and during preparation for the NCLEX examination.
Claire is the immunization nurse at the Commonwealth Health Corp.’s Division of Public Health where she started working in August 2010.
