The Commonwealth Utilities Corp. cautioned motorists and villagers yesterday about two construction projects that are scheduled to start next week.

CUC chief engineer John Riegel said these upcoming projects would take place along the Airport Road and Koblerville.

Riegel disclosed that GPPC Inc. has been awarded a $48,288 contract for the construction of the Airport Road Restoration for San Vicente Service Area Extension Project. This consists of the excavation of flowable fill and installation of asphalt concrete to replace the pavement area cut by CUC to install the San Vicente Service Area Extension Waterline Project along the Airport Road from Dahon Drive to Exploring Drive.

Because construction is set to begin today, Jan. 23, from 7:30am to 4:30pm Monday to Friday, he is advising motorists to proceed with caution or take alternate routes while construction is ongoing. The target completion date for this project is on Feb. 13, 2014.

Another project in Koblerville will affect residents’ water supply.

Residents of Koblerville along Chalan Msgr. Martinez Road between the As Perdido Road Intersection and Eskabeche Avenue are advised of a nine-hour water outage on Friday, Jan. 24, from 8am to 5pm.

The purpose of this water outage is to allow CUC’s contractor, AIC Marianas, to install a new fire hydrant along Chalan Msgr. Martinez Road. This project is part of the Koblerville Gate Valve and Fire Hydrant Replacement Project funded by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

“CUC’s operations team and AIC Marianas will be working hard to return service to our customers in these affected areas as soon as possible,” according to CUC.

Because of the scale of the work to be performed, CUC recommends that motorists take alternate routes or to exercise caution when driving through the construction sites.
