Leora Ngirablosch, coordinator for the Primary Grade Forensics Competition at San Vicente Elementary School, said the SVES PCFC committee started out with one goal: to increase student reading.
“When we read we learn a lot of vocabulary words, and the more vocabulary words we know, the more we can read, and the more we can read the more we can think for ourselves,” she said.
“With that focus we are able to say that any student who joins the PGFC can excel in speech and forensics whether or not their reading level is at the grade level or below or above it, it is just the joy of reading and performing poetry,” said Ngirablosch.
She hopes parents will continue reading to or with their children even if there’s no forensic competition.
“Reading every night is so beneficial. It will help your child at school and at home,” she added.
Ngirablosch thanked parents for encouraging the students and taking them to Primary Grade Forensics Competition events.
She also thanked teachers from all private and public schools who devoted their Saturdays to judging these events, as well as the schools and their teachers.
During a Parent-Teacher Association meeting on Dec. 1, 2016, San Vicente Elementary School recognized those of its students who participated in the recently held conference competition.
