TAMUNING, Guam—McDonald’s of Guam and Saipan announced that Jarred A. Castro has been awarded the McDonald’s Operations Technology Person or OTP, Pro of the Year Award for the Walnut Creek Field Office. The announcement was made at the finale of the OTP Pro Virtual CyberConnect Conference on Jan. 27, 2021. Castro is one of only two OTP Pro’s chosen for the prestigious tech award out of the entire Walnut Creek Field Office.
“We’re extremely proud of Jarred’s achievement in winning this national award and representing McDonald’s of Guam and Saipan. Technology is critical to our operations and Jarred plays an instrumental role in the success of our technology systems,” said McDonald’s of Guam and Saipan vice president Joe Ayuyu Jr.
Castro joined McDonald’s Corp. in March 2010. After three years, he was promoted to department manager for McDonald’s of Tamuning. In May 2016, he remained with McDonald’s following owner/operators Jose and Marcia Ayuyu’s acquisition of all of the McDonald’s Guam restaurants. In early 2019, he entered into the Operations Technology Person program, quickly earning an OTP 1 and OTP 2 certification. In September 2019, he attended McDonald’s “M Tech University” in Arizona, earning an OTP 3 certification. Today, Castro provides high level technology support and installation for McDonald’s of Guam and Saipan.
McDonald’s Tamuning general manager Vilmore Santiago shared his excitement following the announcement. “When we started learning about OTP in the restaurant and the company was deciding who will be the best person to be an OTP, right away on top of my mind I suggested my manager, Jarred Castro. Seeing him with a knowledge on technology and having an outgoing personality and that technology is his passion. Having him as an OTP is a big help in the restaurant. We are made aware of any updates/upgrades. If there’s any maintenance schedule happening on technology side, he also shares the information ahead of time. Also, he supports other restaurants in Guam and Saipan on technology issues and guides other OTPs to continue to learn from him,” said Vilmore.
On behalf of the entire Guam and Saipan McFamily, McDonald’s of Guam and Saipan is proud to celebrate this wonderful achievement and honored that Castro is a part of its team. (PR)
