CNMI Motheread/Fatheread hosts completion ceremony

The CNMI Motheread/Fatheread proudly presented yet another successfully Combined Head Start Completion Ceremony on May 2, 2014, 5:30pm at the Pedro P. Tenorio Multi-Purpose Center. An amazing 197 people attended the event with special presentations from the following Head Start Centers: Dandan, Oleai, Chalan Kanoa, Tanapag, Kagman, JMR, and San Antonio. Emcees for the night were San Antonio Head Start instructor Ivan Garces and Motheread assistant coordinator Bryan Manabat. Welcoming remarks were given by Motheread assistant coordinator Beth Demapan.

Meanwhile, parent participant Sheila Muna and Northern Marianas Humanities Council’s program officer Eulalia Villagomez delivered brief remarks for the night.

William S. Reyes Elementary School’s Story Exploring Class led by Story Exploring instructor Romeo Silvano and AmeriCorps volunteers provided a beautiful intermission dance number.

Special guests included Head Start Program director Melissa Palacios, Head Start Education and Disabilities manager Lathania Angui Santos, and Joeten Kiyu Public Library Technical Services librarian Rosalyn Ajoste, who were on hand to assist in certificate presentations.

Certificates were awarded to 45 parents and 54 Story Exploring children.

Thank you to the entire Motheread Team, partners, and volunteers for making our Combined Head Start Completion Ceremony an overwhelming success! We appreciate and recognize all of your hard work and commitment in continuing to make us—the CNMI Motheread/Fatheread Literacy Program—the Northern Marianas Humanities Council’s signature Literacy Program.

We congratulate all of you parents and children! Cheers to your commitment for literacy and to your devotion to your children’s educational success! Truly, “Literacy Changes Lives, Motheread Changes Literacy.”
