CCA board meets on Tuesday

The Commonwealth Cancer Association’s board of directors will be holding its regular meeting on Tuesday, May 13, 2014, at 3pm at the CCA conference room. Agenda includes reports from the president and program updates. All board meetings are open to the public. Charter Day committee extends deadline for competitions

The Northern Marianas College Charter Day Committee has extended the deadline for those interested in participating in the Charter Day competitions: Marianas Idol, Battle of the Bands, and the Hilux Truck and Sport Compact Car Show. The new deadline to submit registration forms has been extended to Monday, May 12, 2014.

The registration fee to compete in the car show is $25. Auditions for the Battle of the Bands will take place on May 12, 2014, and Marianas Idol will be on May 13, 2014. The auditions will be held in the Student Center, Building J at the As Terlaje campus from 4pm to 6pm.

NMI preps for Memorial Day rites

The CNMI will be celebrating Memorial Day on Monday, May 26, 2014, at 9am at the CNMI Veterans Cemetery. The Veterans Affairs director and its committee will be paying tribute to our fallen heroes and is inviting the immediate families to join with the community in paying tribute to them. The immediate family is being asked to call the Veterans Affairs Office for details at 664-2650/2659 or 287-5351. (PR)

Memorial Week proclamation signing

The Office of the Governor and the Veterans Affairs Office has scheduled a Memorial Week proclamation signing on Monday, May 19, 2014, 10am, at the Office of the Governor’s conference room. All veterans, active and reserved military personnel, family members of those departed veterans, and the general public are invited to come and join this proclamation signing. (PR)

Do Re Mi Music School sets Annual Concert

The Do Re Mi Music School is having its 22nd Annual Concert on May 9 and 10, from 7pm to 9pm each evening at the Multi-Purpose Center in Susupe. Tickets are available by calling 233-7777 and will also be available at the door: $10 for adults and $5 for children. The concert will include pieces from Tchaikovsky, Paganini, Wentawski and Mendelssohn, among others. (PR)
