BREAKING NEWS: Crossed fingers on new salary bill
The bill to establish a new salary for lawmakers will once again head to the governor’s desk, with the CNMI Senate hoping that it will be the last time to discuss this piece of legislation.
The Office of the Governor has already twice vetoed similar legislations after concerns were raised about how the bills passed the Legislature.
House Bill 20-197 sets the lawmakers’ annual compensation at $32,000 per annum.
Without that bill, the lawmakers’ salaries would plummet to $8,000 per annum.
