The Commonwealth Election Commission is reminding CNMI residents that the deadline to register as a voter in the Nov. 6 general election is this Friday, Sept. 7.

This Friday is also the deadline for CNMI voters to inform CEC about any changes in their information, said CEC administrative officer Kayla Igitol.

Igitol said registered voters should provide them with an updated address, notify them if they have transferred precincts and if they have changes in their first or last names.

CEC recently reported that there were over 18,200 registered voters in the CNMI for this year’s election, which is a record-breaking number.

Meanwhile, CEC started opening the request for absentee ballots last Aug. 23. The deadline to make such request is Oct. 12.

As of last week, Igitol said there were 345 voters who askeed for absentee ballots. At that time, CEC was still processing more requests. (Ferdie de la Torre)
