Delta tops US airlines in August for on-time arrivals, cancel rate
Delta Air Lines flights were cancelled less and arrived more on-time than any of the 13 U.S. airlines that report statistics to the U.S. government in August, according to the Department of Transportation in its monthly Air Travel Consumer Report out Thursday.
Completion factor ran at 99.9 percent and on-time arrivals within 14 minutes of schedule, the DOT’s metric, clocked-in at 85.5 percent.
Mishandled baggage reports per 1,000 passengers finished at 2.43, third place of the 13 DOT-reporting carriers but first among the four airlines that carried the most passengers during the month.
Internally, Delta maintains a competitive set of Alaska Airlines, American Airlines/US Airways, JetBlue Airways, Southwest Airlines and United Airlines in respect to a monthly employee performance bonus program in completion factor, on-time arrivals and baggage handling. (Delta)
