Draft EIS public meetings notice

MARINE CORPS ACTIVITY GUAM, NCTS, Guam—The U.S. Marine Corps Forces, Pacific on behalf of the U.S. Pacific Command, will hold a series of public meetings on Saipan and Tinian, and is requesting public input on the planning efforts and the National Environmental Policy Act, regarding the recent release of the CNMI Joint Military Training draft environmental impact statement.

The meetings on Saipan are scheduled for Wednesday, April 29, 2015, at the Saipan Southern High School cafeteria, from 5pm to 8pm, and Friday, May 1, 2015, at the Garapan Elementary School, from 5pm to 8pm. The meeting on Tinian will be on Thursday, April 30, 2015, at the Tinian Junior Senior High School cafeteria, from 5pm to 8pm.

  1. For the shake or our future genararion. Well, I know that I will not be here to see what the destruction the military will do on Tinian and Pagan, but I am very sure that it will not be for the best interest of the future generation. For short term use of these islands ,may be yes, less destruction and contamination, more job opportunities and money. However, for long term use, there will be more destruction, less land suitable for future generation, more expense on Health Care due to contaminations of our food resources and water, and more of our future generation will be going of island to look for a better and much safer place to raise a family.
