Looking for inexpensive but reliable drawers? Look no further than the newly opened Etc. along Middle Road in Gualo Rai.

Owner Jenny Lee said she opened the general merchandise store earlier this month “to help the community find quality products at an affordable price. Our products are all mixed with products such as coolers, furniture, tools, and household items.”

The many different items being sold in the store is probably what made Lee chose the name Etc., which everyone knows is short for etcetera. Etcetera is a Latin expression that is used in English to mean “and other similar things.”

Compared to other local stores, Etc. sells items at a relatively lower price, Lee said. “We are providing the cheapest prices in the market for our…items. Coolers are as low as $20, dishwashing detergent [is] for only $2, and shampoo [is] as low as $1.50.”

Etc.’s $39 drawers have been the most saleable so far. It’s not only inexpensive, but is also of high quality, according to Lee.

Etc. is also holding a promotional raffle to celebrate its opening. “Right now, our store is giving away two coolers once we reach 500 customers. Any purchase of $10 value will get a raffle ticket to join the giveaway,” she said.

The COVID-19 pandemic has also resulted in some slow days for Etc., but Lee said the store will try to be resilient despite the crisis. “The pandemic has made the business very, very slow and trying to do our best to stay open.”

In a way, the dearth of customers has allowed Etc. to easily comply with the Governor’s COVID-19 Task Force and Commonwealth Healthcare Corp. guidelines to stymie the spread of the coronavirus.

“We do not have heavy foot traffic at our shop and we sanitize everything. My staff sanitize their hands before any transaction and after. Customers are our top priority to ensure safety precautions and making sure all customers have their masks on before coming in our shop,” said Lee.

Etc. is located in the same building where the Bostonian Bakery is in Gualo Rai. It is open Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays from 9am to 6pm.

“Etc. is here to provide the community affordable prices, please check out our shop for your household needs,” said Lee.
