Mir Mosharuf had an epiphany of sorts during a recent trip to the U.S. mainland that convinced him to set up a Food To Come, a new meal delivery service that brings your favorite food right to your door.
Company spokesperson Jim Hinds told Saipan Tribune that Mosharuf has been driving a taxi on Saipan for 25 years and recently went to New York, Buffalo, and Honolulu and found prepared food delivery to be wildly successful in those cities, and managed to learn the industry before returning to Saipan last year.
Currently, Food To Come delivers food from The Shack, Airstream, and 360 Revolving restaurant, but Hinds said the meal delivery service can deliver from any restaurant on island.
The way it works is the customer calls their restaurant of choice and order their food. They then call Food To Come and the service picks up the order and delivers it to their house, office, or any other place they want the food delivered.
Hinds said the customer can arrange to pay the restaurant through credit card, debit card, or any other online payment. Food To Come can also take cash payment on delivery. The delivery charge is $5 for Koblerville to Garapan and $8 for outlying areas.
Waiting time is as less as 15 minutes to a maximum of 35 minutes—10 to 20 minutes for food prep and five to 15 minutes for delivery.
So far, the meal delivery service has been a hit for customers and restaurant owners alike.
“People love it! Clerks and, teachers that can’t leave the office are repeat customers. Business owners also find a $100-$500 increase in their orders by serving this extra marketplace,” said Hinds.
The biggest fulfilment the fledgling delivery service has experienced so far is “the genuine smile on the faces of the customer’s we serve,” according to Hinds.
The biggest challenge, meanwhile, are customers calling in to order from off-island restaurants.
The Food To Come meal delivery service is available from 10am to 2pm with plans to eventually extend it to 10pm.
