GEAR Adventure Race on Aug. 26
The Guam Extreme Adventure Race organization will be hosting a sprint “GEAR Adventure Race” on Aug. 26 at 7am at Channel 10 top of Turner Road in Nimitz Hill.
Participants will compete in teams of two with the objective of the challenge is to navigate through pre-set checkpoints located in the surrounding areas on mountain bike and by foot using a topographical map. Each checkpoint will be worth a certain number of points.
The first team to get back to the starting point with highest points tally will be the winners.
The organizers have arranged a variety of unique locations for checkpoints that will test participants’ skills of navigation, local knowledge and endurance.
“Races are typically held in jungle and cross country locations and consist of navigation, mountain biking, coastal steering and often water crossing and kayaking,” says race organizer Phil Law.
There will be four races in the series and the overall highest grossing racers will receive prizes.
Participants completing three or more races will receive T-shirts as well as refreshments after the race.
Registration will take place on race day from 6am at a cost of $10 per race.
